HIV and AIDS, Student Action Top Ten, World AIDS Day No Comments
Even though World AIDS Day has passed, taking action can’t be put on the back-burner! To continue building awareness about HIV and AIDS, we put together a list of ways you can get involved.
- Awareness is everything! – Create posters to hang around school or reserve a table in your school lobby to educate your peers about the global impact of HIV and AIDS.
Check out this resource for facts to put on the poster!
- Quiz yourself! – Take this CARE quiz to test your knowledge of HIV/AIDS.
- Free Testing – June 27th is National HIV Testing Day. Do you know where free testing is? This website will let you know where you can go locally.
- Donate your birthday with Facebook causes! – An easy way to support Concern is to ask people to donate via Facebook causes in honor of your birthday! Check out our Causes page here.
- Request a speaker – Contact us if you’d like a member of the Concern staff to speak about HIV and AIDS to your students or peers. GCC provides engaging guest speakers from our staff either in person or direct from their overseas posts’ through video conferencing!
- Where in the World? – Using a world map, place small red stickers to illustrate where in the world HIV and AIDS exists. The greater the prevalence of HIV and AIDS, the more red dots to stick in that region. You can hang this world map somewhere in your school! Our resource guide will provide you the facts.
- Host an Event – Raise money for HIV and AIDS relief efforts through a benefit concert, 5K walk, tee shirt sale, anything! The sky is the limit!
- Hang these posters! – Check out these posters “through the ages.” The term “AIDS” wasn’t used until 1982, so these posters show how awareness progressed throughout the ages.
- Red ribbons – Red ribbons are the international symbol of AIDS. You can get red ribbon and safety pins at a local craft store and hand them out!
- A little sweetness goes a long way – Host a bake sale at your school to support Concern’s HIV and AIDS relief. You can pass out red ribbons at the bake sale too!
