Freshmen at Trevor Day School stand against poverty and recite the MDGs as a pledge

2010 is the 10-year mark since 189 world leaders gathered together to decide on the most pressing global issues that needed greater attention and collaboration on in order to reverse the effects and prevalence of poverty worldwide. These became the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), set to be achieved by 2015 with promises made by leaders to commit to development aid and partnership.

Students at St. Vincent Ferrer High School gather at lunch to stand up against poverty

October 16, 2009 marked World Food Day and the beginning of a 3-day global campaign, “Stand Up, Take Action, End Poverty Now!”

For the fourth year in a row, millions of people from around the world participated in community-organized events to remind world leaders of their pledge to end poverty and achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
